Deasbaireachd:Tuil nan Naomh Uile (1170)
Saoil am biodh “Tuil na Samhna” na bʼfhearr na “Tuil nan Naomh Uile” mar eadar-theangachadh Gàidhlig air “Allerheiligenvloed”? Bhiodh e na bʼfhasa ri thuigsinn co-dhiù.

- Tha thu ceart cha lughaide. Chan eil fhìos agam. Tha mi ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig... In fact I need to continue in English, sorry... Traditionally our floods were named after the Saint's name day and nov 1 is All Saint's Day. We have had a number of serious floods on that dangerous day, including the one in 1571 that sparked our struggle for independence. Of course after the Reformation this way of naming became a problem. In fact -being calvinist- I only learned a few days ago that the flood of '53 that is my earliest childhood memory is called the St. Ignatius flood by some. I have no idea how to do this in Gàidhlig.
--Gunmhoine (an deasbaireachd) 00:15, 4 dhen Ghearrain 2015 (UTC) - P.S. One the reasons I think this warrants even a Gàidhlig page is that the long litany of disasters that mark the history of my people is likely to become more than just our pain with sea levels rising.

Taing, Gunmhoine. Tha mi a’ tuigsinn, agus tha thu ceart. Ma ’s ann air naoimh a thathar ag ainmneachadh nan tuiltean eile, bhiodh “Tuil nan Naomh Uile” na b’fhearr na “Tuil na Samhna”.
Tha “Là nan Uile Naoimh” ann agus is e sin as cumanta is dòcha:

ach tha mi a’ faicinn gu bheil “Là nan Naomh Uile” ann cuideachd:
Agus tha thu glé cheart a thaobh blàthachadh na Cruinne!
(Let me know if there is anything I said in Gàidhlig which you can’t work out.)
