English: No 3 Dock at Methil, Fife, was authorised in 1907 and opened in 1913. It was given its own entrance off the Firth of Forth, with a channel 120 feet wide in which were lock gates 80 feet wide. The area of the basin was 16¼ acres and it was originally provided with nine hoists for shipping coal. With the run-down of the Fife coalfield it was closed to commercial traffic. The entrance channel and lock gates, the latter appearing rather the worse for wear, are seen here from a corner of the dock.
